Every week we post the top things to do at local breweries around the country. This week, we focused on what’s happening at a couple of Craft Breweries in Baltimore.

IT’S THURSDAY!

The weekend is in sight!

Here’s our list of some of the best events happening in the Baltimore craft brew scene this weekend, so you can sit back and relax ’till Friday cruises in.

Trivia Night @ Peabody Heights

Dark and Stormy Ale Can Release @ Flying Dog Brewery

Saturday 11:15 am – 8:oo pm. Doors open to VIP ticket holders at 11:15 for beer tasting and talk with the brewer. Opens to the public at Noon.

Cans will be sold until they are sold out.

Description:

For the first time ever, our experimental beers are being canned and sold for your at home consumption.

Our brewers love taking on a classic cocktail. With Dark and Stormy Ale, the idea is to get the ginger spice to play off the vanilla, cinnamon and oaky notes of the rum. This beer-cocktail hybrid was pitched by our tasting room lead Kyle Bolte and all of his bearded glory.

What You Taste and Why @ Heavy Seas Brewery

March 12th at 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Malt, hops, water, and yeast. How can thousands of different beers come from the same 4 ingredients? In this course, we will explore the basics of brewing, as well as what each ingredient does for the beer’s color, aroma, alcohol content, body, and flavor. We will discuss beer styles, and what criteria are used to determine if a beer fits one or not. And, of course, we will taste beer! With our new found knowledge, we will take a slightly more critical approach to beer-tasting than the casual beer drinker. The goal is to help people better appreciate the complexity and beauty of handcrafted beer by giving them a deeper understanding of what’s really happening in the glass.

Tickets: $25 — Participants receive 8 beer samples, appetizers, a logo’d growler, and tour passes to the Heavy Seas brewery! Anyone who stays after the event will receive 15% off their meal!
